L'argent, l'argent, toujours l'argent... Qui m'aime me suive, oui!
Why do we care about money, huh?

My San Francisco Chronicle – day 5

Today is my day of glory.

I tell you. My heroic act. The bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. I remind you that it takes several hours to get through the other side, especially because sometimes, I can paddle my whole soul, the wind stops me right away. I would say I have to double-paddle. My team-mate takes a picture of me with the bike on the bridge. We never know. I have a proof I did it.

Today seems to be a cool, sunny and healthy day! I'm glad. Now, things are going better and better. I wander and go a little shopping. Yet, time is flying and I have an invitation for tonight. I find a branch of my bank. It is always better to have some cash on me when going out. My instinct leads me to check my balance first.

My eyes get crossed. My eyes get crossed three times, and get crossed again.

$2 left.

I clean the screen. ATM are often dirty.

Still $2 left.

Keep cool. I have two days left here and it is Saturday night. I have plans for tonight. It looks like $2 are not enough.

I text a friend to get the number of the bike renting shop. They put me in such a bankruptcy because they debited the security deposit that I temporarily gave them. I said temporarily. When I was away with the bike. So, not anymore! I know the shop closes in 5 minutes. I call them. They answer with a honey voice that they can't do anything; I have to call my bank. My own voice doesn't sound like honey anymore. Seriously, I am not Don Quixote! I can fight against one or two windmill(s), but not against a new one every day! I re-text my friend to get the number of my bank. I call the bank, spend 40 minutes on the phone, explaining the situation and crying. In the meantime, the other clients, who get in to withdraw some money, stare at me as if I was hysterical, which state I'm not far from to tell the truth… After a while, the bank supervisor tells me that he is going to do me a huge favor and to give me the money back. I love supervisors!

I join I. and his friends as well as I can. I am more than 1h late.
Feeling empty, I get back to life in the San Francisco night, letting me flow by the zeitgeist.
